Ayurvedic Churna
Churna (Sanskrit: चूर्ण "powder") is a mixture of powdered herbs and or minerals used in Ayurvedic medicine. Churna is prepared from dry and clean herbs. Before making churna, herbs are washed properly to remove dust. Some ingredients are dried in the sun and some are dry in the shade depending on the aromatic and volatile content of herbs. In addition to herbs, Churna can also contain fine powder of salts, sugar, and other ayurvedic ingredients. Triphala is an example of a classic Ayurvedic formula, used for thousands of years that is made from the powders of three fruits Amalaki (Emblica officinalis), Haritaki (Terminalia chebula) and Bibhitaki (Terminalia belerica). Ayurveda is an ancient health care tradition that has been practiced in India for at least 5,000 years.
