Mastic Gum Powder
Product Name: Mastic Gum Powder
Botanic Name: Pistacia lentiscus
Mastic (Greek) is a resin obtained from the mastic tree (Pistacia lentiscus). It is also known as tears of Chios, being traditionally produced on the island Chios, and, like other natural resins, is produced in "tears" or droplets. Mastic is excreted by the resin glands of certain trees and dries into pieces of brittle, translucent resin. When chewed, the resin softens and becomes a bright white and opaque gum.
Health Benefits:- Mastic gum (Pistacia lentiscus) is a unique resin that comes from a tree grown in the Mediterranean. For centuries, the resin has been used to improve digestion, oral health, and liver health. It contains antioxidants that are said to support its therapeutic properties. People use the sap (resin) from the trunk to make medicine. Mastic is used for conditions such as stomach and intestinal ulcers, long-term swelling (inflammation) in the digestive tract (inflammatory bowel disease or IBD), infections, and wound healing. Mastic might help reduce stomach acid and may protect the lining of the stomach and intestine. Mastic also contains a fragrant oil which could kill bacteria and freshen the breath. In a test tube, mastic seems to fight bacteria and fungi.
