Ruh Khus (Vetiveria zizanioides) is hydro distilled from roots of wild harvest plants growing in North India. The properties of Ruh Khus need to be evaluated for each separate batch that one smells. The wild harvested roots display a wide range of odors depending on where they are harvested, the age of the roots, etc. It is olive green to emerald green in color due to the fact that it is distilled in copper vessels in the traditional way. In the top the aroma is rose, old leather, warm grass, saffron, mossy, spiced roots and earthy. Quite an opening indeed. This vetiver essential oil indulged you in all of these experiences like intoxicated with the aromas of heavy grasses, roses, earthy and lots of green. It takes about 12 hours to 36 hours before you can actually judge because of the complex concentration.
