Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate (SAP) Vitamin C
Product Name: Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate (SAP) Vitamin C
Botanic Name: Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate (SAP) Vitamin C
Sodium ascorbyl phosphate (SAP) is specifically produced for use as a stabilized source of vitamin C in cosmetic products. Light-stable and oxygen-stable. May discolor at pH levels below 6. Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate is a stable, water-soluble form one of the vitamin C derivatives and is more stable than vitamin C (L ascorbic acid). SAP promotes the formation of dermal collagen. It neutralizes skin-damaging free radicals, evens skin tone by combating hyperpigmentation or dark spots, and has antimicrobial benefits. It has the ability to stimulate the production of collagen, the protein responsible for strong, youthful skin. A 5% concentration was shown in a comparative study with the same amount of ascorbic acid to have equivalent wrinkle-smoothing and elasticity-increasing benefit to skin around the eyes. Benefits include skin brightening, anti-wrinkle, and anti-aging.
