Common Use: Astringent, cuts, bruises, (external or internal). Diaphoretic (internally). Anti-inflammatory, gastric aid, ulcers, emmenagogue. Heals tissue, scars, wounds, especially the eyes, possibly through the orange coloured constituent "lutein", a caretenoid with anti-oxidant properties known to protect the eye. Calendula is also an immune stimulant and anti-fungal, and was used by Greek physician Galen to treat tumors. Part Used: Flowers.
