Tolu Balsam Essential Oil (Myroxylon balsamum) is a tropical tree native to Central and South America. The resinous balsam is derived from the trunk of a tree known as Myroxylon. These trees are large growing upwards of 40 meters and native to Central America. Balsam resin, once dry, is scraped off and purified to make the essential oil.Its aromatic resin/balsam is used to produce Tolu Balsam materials for perfumery, fragrance, cosmetics, soaps, and other personal-care products. Tolu Balsam is especially valued for its warm, sweet, rich balsamic aroma, often described as having vanilla, cinnamon, caramel, resinous and slightly spicy notes.
Common Uses: Tolu Balsam Essential Oil is used in cough medicines and helps alleviate congestion. It has a very soft aroma, and adds a resinous note to a blend in perfumery.
