The Echinacea herb (Echinacea Purpurea) also known as the purple coneflower, was originally found on the plains of North America. Echinacea has tall stems and bear single flowers that are pink or purple. It is also called snake root because it was first introduced to the white settlers by the Native American Indians as a cure for snake bite. Echinacea promotes the healing of skin irritation, burns cuts and scrapes. It has become one of the most commonly prescribed herbs by western herbal practitioners.
